Brick Pond Park, dedicated November 2008, represents the first urban ecology park in the Southeastern United States and serves as the central park facility to both Hammond’s Ferry and the City of North Augusta. With collaboration between the City, Hammond’s Ferry, and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, this park represents cutting edge environmental technology that has restored an ecologically impaired drainage basin into a beautiful riparian habitat for birds, deer, reptiles and other indigenous species to this region. Brick Pond Park has become a botanical garden with paths, boardwalks, and outdoor classrooms, serving the casual visitor or the serious naturalist. This park is programmed to become a major natural sciences educational facility for Aiken County.
